Patti Menkes creates collages that recontextualize elements of iconic art and design with graphic sensibility. Using found images along with her own photos and drawings, she conjures a stylish amalgam reflecting her fascination with colour and form. Her singular, original collages are each created by hand, cut and paste, and produced in limited edition fine art inkjet prints. Her sculptural works take organic shape in a series of abstract forms in laser cut steel, each mounted on a custom base that is additionally engraved; titled, numbered and signed.
Menkes’s works have been exhibited in galleries, at Art Miami, Art Toronto and Palm Beach Modern and Contemporary, and are found in corporate and private collections in Canada and the US.
Patti Menkes’s art book, Making the Cut (2020), presents a rotating gallery of select collages expressing her playful, perceptive takes on pop culture.
Born and raised outside of Boston, Menkes pursued her creative passions in New York and graduated with an art degree from Marymount Manhattan College.
Menkes makes her home and studio in Toronto, Canada and Palm Beach, Florida.
